From the south the birdge crosses Saw Pit Creek then traverses a small island before crossing Nassa Sound. The section that cross the small island was badly damage by Hurrican Mathew in October 2016. These piers do not require a fishing license.
Piers provide an opportunity to fish further offshore than most of us are able to cast from the shore. In some areas fish such as dolphin, king mackerel, tarpon and, even sailfish can be caught from piers. There are many piers around Florida. Many are free but the ones that charge are very reasonable. Frequently bait can be purchase and tackle can be rented. A fishing license is required on all the free piers but many of the for-fee piers don’t require a license. The piers that provide a license are indicated on the map.
